What we collect
- Account: your email address and a password handled by our authentication provider (Supabase). We never see your password.
- Your content: recipes, boards, menus, notes, ratings, grocery items, and food preferences you create. Synced content is stored with our database provider (Supabase) so your household can share it.
- Friends: the username you choose, your friend list, and pending friend requests. Other people can find you only by typing your exact username or using an invite you share.
- Food preferences (diets, avoided ingredients, onboarding answers) are stored on your device and synced to your account so they follow you to other devices. They are used only to filter and personalize what you see.
- Cooking history (your progress in a recipe, timers, when you cooked it, your ratings and cooking notes) is stored on your device. When you finish a recipe in cook mode, we also record on our servers which recipe it was, the date, its cuisine and the rating you give it, to count your achievements. Your cooking notes stay on your device.
- Purchases: if you buy Wonder Spoon+, our subscription provider (RevenueCat) receives your account ID and your App Store purchase history (product, dates, renewal status) to tell us whether your subscription is active. We never see your payment details; Apple handles payment.
- Achievements: which achievements you have earned.
- Crash and performance reports: when the app crashes or runs slowly, it sends a technical report (device model, iOS version, app version, the error, and timing information) to our crash-reporting provider (Sentry). These reports do not include your email, recipes, or notes.
- Usage: we do not run analytics, ads, or advertising trackers.
AI features
AI features are optional and only run after you agree to them in the app. When you use one, the content that request needs is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic:
- Importing from a photo, a social media caption, or a non-English page: the photo or text you submit.
- Ingredient substitutes: the ingredient and the recipe title.
- Macros estimates: the recipe title, its servings and its ingredient list.
- Asking the sous-chef while you cook: your question, the recipe, and your progress in it (current step, checked ingredients, running timers, and your last cooking note).
Anthropic uses this content only to answer that request; under its commercial terms it is not used to train its models. You can turn AI features off at any time in Settings.
Reading steps aloud uses your phone's built-in voice. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Shopping links
If you shop ingredients, we create a shopping page with Instacart; what you do on Instacart is governed by their privacy policy.
Sharing
Each recipe's visibility decides who sees it: only you, your household, your friends, or everyone. Recipes are visible to your household by default. Friends see your name, chef avatar, username, and the recipes you share with friends or everyone; they never see your notes, ratings, boards, or grocery list. Public recipes appear in the community library, where anyone using the app can see them. Nothing else is shared.
Data deletion
Deleting your account removes your profile, username, friend list, and private recipes from our servers. If you are the last member of your household, the household's recipes, boards, menus, and grocery data are deleted too; otherwise they stay with the remaining members. Recipes you made public stay in the community library without your name or any link to you, unless you choose to remove them when you delete. Photos you uploaded are deleted, except photos still shown on a recipe that stays with your household or in the community library. You can also email dylandman287@gmail.com to request deletion.
Selling data
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with anyone except the service providers named above (Supabase, Anthropic, Sentry, RevenueCat, and Instacart when you shop), and only to run the app.
